Photo: Getty Images (left); FilmMagic (center); Startraks Photo (right) Forget about the Guardians of the Galaxy a team of superstar directors, including Quentin Tarantino, J.J. Abrams, Judd Apatow and Christopher Nolan, has joined forces to prevent motion picture film from becoming extinct. Thanks to their behind-the-scenes lobbying efforts, the major Hollywood studios are close to finalizing a deal that will allow Eastman Kodak Co. to continue making movie film, the Wall Street Journal reports . It would be a tragedy if suddenly directors didnt have the opportunity to shoot on film, Apatow told the Journal from the New York set of a movie that hes shooting on film. Theres a magic to the grain and the color that you get with film. Kodak the last manufacturer of movie film in the world has seen sales plummet 96 percent since 2007 as filmmakers switch to digital video formats that are far less expensive to shoot and distribute. Kodak has been considering closing its film-manufacturing plant in Rochester, NY because of mounting losses. Under the deal, studios such as Paramount, Disney and Warner Bros. would make a long-term commitment to purchase sufficient quantities of movie film to enable Kodak to stay in that business.
For the original version including any supplementary images or video, visit Directors press the button, Kodak does the rest | New York Post
Starting on opening day, the Bank of America that operated on Main Street also gave away free folded colored brochures to guests that featured a map for the park. The primary purpose of Guest Relations was not to handle guest complaints, but to offer vacation planning tips on how to understand and best enjoy Disneyland. The primary purpose of the train was not to provide another attraction, but to allow guests to circle the park to get a sense of what Disneyland was and where things were. Disney Legend Cecily Rigdon was promoted from ticket seller at the outside kiosks to Guest Relations because Walt saw her line was always the longest. Installing microphones, he discovered that she was giving tips about where to go and where to eat depending on the nature of the family. Guests eagerly waited in a longer line to get her suggestions. For Walt, it was very important that guests be able to get around easily to enjoy their day and to understand what was there and where. While most readers of this column are probably veteran travelers and instantly know that if one area is blocked how to do a work around to get where they need to go, or when is the best time to go on an attraction or see a show, there are still many people who go to the Disney parks so infrequently, or have such limited time schedules, that they need assistance for their experience. So Disney travel guides were born.
For the original version including any supplementary images or video, visit The History of Disney Travel Guides (Korkis Korner) by Jim Korkis

?We?ve challenged ourselves to come up with authentic recipes that will wow our guests ? this restaurant is the next chapter in Disney dining.? It?s the attention to quality and detail that sets Trattoria al forno apart, says Chef Lenny. ?We?ve got an authentic prosciutto slicer, we?re making cavatelli pasta in-house, pickling peppers, making mozzarella, and serving spectacular pizza pies,? he says. One of his favorite menu items is the charcuterie, with special cured meats such as hard salami with fennel pollen. DeGeorge grew up in an American-Italian family, but says it was a trip to Italy that forever changed his thoughts on cooking Italian. ?Italian food isn?t about lots of ingredients, less is more,? says Chef Lenny. ?True marinara is simply the best tomatoes, garlic, olive oil and time, lots of cooking time.? This is the recipe at Trattoria al forno, and they add a little house-made chicken stock to fortify the meat dishes. ?I think Italians will approve,? says Chef Lenny. His lasagna recipe, below, is ?moist, rich, and nothing like the Americanized version most of us grew up eating,? says Chef Lenny. Trattoria?s signature dishes like pasta carbonara will be made with fresh eggs, Romano cheese and guanciale more.. (salt-cured pork cheeks), not the Americanized version with bacon, cream and peas.
For the original version including any supplementary images or video, visit A Perfect Recipe for National Lasagna Day July 29
Though Agents of SHIELD faced many hurdles in the first season, Marvel intends to build on this new development as it recently penned an agreement with Netflix, Inc. ( NFLX ) for online streaming of four of Marvel's TV series along with a miniseries. Starting with "Daredevil," which is scheduled to premiere at least after a year, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage will follow, with an expectation of enhancing Marvel's business. While last year Marvel reacquired Daredevil from Twentieth Century Fox, Jessica Jones was earlier scheduled to be an ABC series. Apart from these four series, the deal with Netflix also includes a miniseries TV event, primarily based on The Defenders to be streamed. Moreover, maintaining its trend in the film business, Marvel's TV shows will also work within the same universe. Hence, all the Netflix shows will have interconnections with Agents of SHIELD and The Avengers. Both Disney and Netflix are positive about this partnership, which in turn is dependent upon the audience response to these releases. Though Agents of SHIELD had to struggle its way, as per media reports, Daredevil is likely to be a hit in the world of television as relentless effort is being invested in its making, since it is to set the theme of the "Defenders" universe.
For the original version including any supplementary images or video, visit Disney to Benefit from Marvel's Expansion into TV - Analyst Blog - NASDAQ.com

Seth Conerly and Taylor Townsend said they are still in awe of all the attention theyve received. I thought that some people would have watched people like proposals and things but nothing to this scale, Conerly said. The couple met in January 2013 before Townsend went to study in London. "We didn't communicate the entire time I was in London. And I wasn't expecting anything when I got back. But I thought he was really cute, and I was hoping he might ask me out," Townsend said. They had their first date in May 2013 and have been inseparable ever since. Conerly said he got the idea for his proposal while they were in New York. "Taylor was 'Cinderella' in Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella when she was in high school at Jackson Prep," Conerly said.
For the original version including any supplementary images or video, visit Viral wedding proposal getting national attention | Local News - WAPT Home

The theme that I want to talk to you about is the way that Walt Disneys years living in Missouri both in Marceline, Mo., and Kansas City, Mo., had a major direct and observable effect on his films, and on his theme parks, said Viets. I developed an obsession with Disney about 30 years ago. Disney, born on Dec. 5, 1901, in Chicago, moved with his family to Marceline, when he was 4 years old. The slide presentation gave the audience a glimpse of Disneys life in his early years. If you have ever been to Disney Land in California or Disney World in Florida, Main Street USA is the entry way for both of those parks, he said. Main Street is inspired and to a degree is modeled on the Main Street in Marceline, Mo., you can see some similarities today in the architecture. Viets also touched upon Disney and his older brother, Roy. I assumed that Walt was probably a business executive mainly, [that] he sat in an office and made business decisions, and I figured out that he pretty much was not involved in making the movie, Viets said. In fact, I could not have been more wrong about that. Walt was very much a hands on creative influence in the Disney Studio. The Disney Studio is the creation of two people, Walts older brother Roy is often overshadowed by Walts very high profile public image.
For the original version including any supplementary images or video, visit Historian talks of Disney?s Missouri childhood - News - Neosho Daily News - Neosho, MO - Neosho, MO
